1)Tell me a bit about yourself?
Ans)My name is Shweta Mahendra Tandekar and I am an Indian-based children's storybook writer.
2) What genres do you write in?
Ans)I am a deep thinker and have a fantasy imagination. This makes up my mind to write fantasy stories and yes, I did. Mostly my books are fantasy. But I had tried my hand at both fiction and nonfiction.
3)How long have you been writing?
Ans) When I was in the seventh standard, my first poem was published in the local newspaper. I remember it was on the Beauty of Tajmahal and I got second prize. This motivated me and I never stop writing..
4)Do you have any published books or articles? Tell me a bit about them and what publishing route you took?
Ans)Yes, I have written several books, both fiction and nonfiction.Bhilwadiya days, An ode to the childhood, a story of violet, princess of rhymes, e.t.c.are very popular among children and adults. Mostly I prefer the self-publishing route.
5) Do you have any editor?
Ans)No, not yet
6)Do you use book a formatter and cover formatter?
Ans)No, never.
7)Did you self publishing or get traditionally published? How did this go for you,,?
Ans)I prefer self-publishing
8) How did you Market your book or promote your book?
Ans)I basically promote my books on social media, such as Facebook and Instagram
9) What social media and writing platform would you recommend?
Ans)In my opinion Facebook is the best because there are so many groups of books promotion, that is a good platform for promotion
10)Do you use an agent?
Ans)No, never
11)Do you use paid advertising? If so what?
Ans)No,i don't believe in this service. But I think if your content is interesting, then readers will approach you.
12)Do you have a blog or a website?
Ans) I don't have any blog or website.
I have only a Facebook account and Instagram name Shweta Mahendra Tandekar.
13) What inspires you most to write?
Ans) when I was a kid I watch a great show at the weekend that was Alive in Wonderland, Cinderella, and Jungle book..I am really impressed with all the fantasy in it. And yes, Ruskin Bond's books..They are really fabulous. I never get bored with reading again and again.
14)How do you plan your writing and start it?
Ans) Basically, when I see some beautiful scenery or miserable stories hovering around me, this strikes a new idea, and my pen moves on.
15)Is writing your full-time job?
Ans) My aim was to become a successful writer just like J.K Rowling, Arundhati Roy, Salman Rushdie, and Shri APJ Abdul Kalam..But my fate. Destiny makes me a lecturer in a Government girl's school. Now teaching and giving the best education to poor girls is my job now. But I will never never leave writing.I have so many unpublished manuscripts of children's stories, including romantic..But due to a tight schedule, it is very difficult to give time for writing work...
16)How long does it take to write a book?
Ans)it takes me to write at least two or three months.
17) What is your target audience?
Ans) it depends on your story books, on your work.
18) when did you first discover you enjoy writing?
Ans)when I wrote a short poem for a competition, then I get second prize
This motivates me and I write and write whatever is in my mind.. whether it is a poem on rain, cloud, or parrot
19) what is your writing schedule look like?
Ans)It needs a lot of time and dedication..
20) what does your family think about writing?
Ans)My husband Mr.Mahendra Tandekar is the biggest supporter. He does corrections and gives new ideas while I am writing.
21) what do you do when you are not writing.?
Ans) thinking and thinking
22)where do you get information and ideas about writing?
Ans)If you read my story books, you will feel that the stories are very different and I have written with a very depth of heart. I think this is god gifted.
23) what do you think makes a good story?
Ans) writer has to be a deep thinker buddy, something is written that touch you inside from heart and soul
