Tell me a bit about yourself….
Hi, my name is Winnie Tataw! I have had a lifelong love of literature
and art. As a new writer, I want to create beautiful fantasy world(s)
with compelling and intriguing characters. I reside in South
Carolina and am an undergraduate at the College of Charleston. I
love to spread positivity and joy to those around me, and look at
the world through a glittery pink lens.
What genre/s do you write in?
I write young adult, new adult, fantasy, and sci-fi!
How long have you been writing?
I have been writing since middle school or 11!
Do you have any published books or articles? Tell me a bit about these
and what publishing route you took.
Yes, I have self-published three books of my fantasy series "The
Gods’ Scion." The series is a fantasy world set in modern times
dealing with modern-day problems. The series focuses on the life
journey of the main character, Prince Rodrick Purcill, and how he
deals with the consequences of the horrors of the world he was
born into. The series shows how different characters and points of
view deal with the same problems and issues presented within the
story.
Did you use an editor? If so who?
Yes, I do! I use freelance editors for my book editing.
Did you use a book formatter and cover designer?
I format my books myself and my cover designer is a lovely lady
named Larch Gallagher.
Did you self-publish or get traditionally published? How did this go for
you?
I am self-published because of the cost and freedom in writing, edit,
and release my books. So far it’s going well.
How do you market your work and promote your brand?(Include links)
I market my books through my blog, my newsletter, social media,
and author interviews (like this one!)
What social media and writing platforms would you recommend?
For social media, it depends on the person. Some people only use
Instagram, some people use every social media they can find.
Do you use an agent?
Nope!
Do you use paid advertising? If so what?
Yes, Facebook and Instagram ads are heaven sent!
Do you have a blog or website?
Yes, I do it’s "Win’s Books." My main purpose for this blog is to
promote and sell my books. I started to branch out into art and
DIY projects, once I discovered how much I loved blogging.
What inspires you most to write?
My imagination, my love for connecting and understanding people,
and exploring real-world problems and issues.
What do you do to help with writer’s block?
Usually reading and watching old or new material helps the brain
juices going.
How do you plan your writing and start?
Recently I have gotten into the habit of using a goal tracker to keep
me motivated in writing.
Is writing your full time job? If not what else do you do?
Nope, I am currently a college student!
What are you working on at the moment?
The fourth book in my fantasy series!
What is your target audience?
People in their late teens to late 20s.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Usually, three to four months if I stay focused.
When did you first discover you enjoyed writing?
When I started storytelling to my friends and family. I decided I
wanted to put those same stories onto paper.
What is your writing schedule look like?
I usually try to write 900-1,100 words a day.
What does your family think about your writing?
They love the creativity in my worldbuilding and the villains
(hehehe).
What do you do when you are not writing?
Reading, blogging, some art craft, or something for school.
Where do you get information and ideas for your writing?
From the world and people around me, and of course books!
What do you think makes a good story?
Strong characters and an easy-to-follow plot.

Thank you, Winnie for your interview and the chance to get to know you better.
