I love doing sport, not so much watching it on TV or at the stadium.
Doing sport is enjoying a moment of movement of your body, a time with some friends, a challenge with the opponent, but also and overall with yourself.
You measure your abilities and your limits with several rules you have to accept. I think that is a challenge. You learn to win and to lose, and then you can transfer those teachings to all areas of life.
It is also a challenge with your body, of course. Not every time you want to work hard to reach some results or to win a match, and this is the challenge! If you like winning, then ok you have to work hard, but despite all this, it is not obvious you will win. In this case, you have to respect the opponent and accept defeat. It's a great teaching!
Watching sport on TV doesn’t give me the same emotions and satisfaction. But I understand it is an important thing for our society, for several people who love following sport or watching it on TV. It is itself good teaching: the sense of belonging, the shared emotion for a victory or a shared sadness for a defeat, the appreciation for the players, and the passion for a particular sport.
What I don’t appreciate is that too often, passion turns into violence against opponents and against the fans of the opposing team. This is not being sporty, but it is just a way to unload one’s aggression.
My suggestion for those sorts of people is DO ANY KIND OF SPORT! IT’S A GOOD WAY TO UNLOAD WHATEVER PROBLEM! Enjoy it and always give love!
