Run For A Reason- Supporting Hospice NZ

There is still time to follow the link below and donate to this worthy cause.

This is my brother-in-law John Smith who will be running the half marathon to raise funds for the hospice.

It has been coming up only six months since the passing of my father-in-law Zac Smith.

Last week my husband and I participated in the Hospice Tairawhiti memorial service held for all those who had lost a loved one that the hospice helped.

It was a beautiful service, very touching, and a healing time. Below are some highlights from the day.

As we entered, we were offered to choose a symbol to represent our loved ones. We choose a rock as my husband Tony and his father used to spend time together skimming rocks. Later in the service, as "Amazing Grace" played, we were asked to place our symbol on a table in remembrance.

Jasmine Taare opened the service by singing "Song bird," and "Smile."

This lady truly does have a voice of an angel.

More waiata from Te Ropu, who sang "Come fly away," followed by

reflection time with Bruce White.

When we came into the room on our seats were hundreds of these paper cranes.

Annie Meredith shared the beautiful story of hope about paper cranes.

If you have not heard the story, please follow the link below

At the end of the service, we got to meet and personally thank some of the staff involved in the care of Zac over a cuppa and a bite to eat.

Above the hospice, nurse Rochelle is pictured with Tony and me.

Special thanks to all involved in this remembrance service, for taking the time to honor the lives and memories of those we have remembered.

"Let us keep close together, not far apart."
